Maximise The Space In A Small Home
We’re not all lucky enough to live in a huge house. With the cost of property as it is in some parts of the country, many people have to make do with a space much smaller than they would like. However, there are ways to make the most of your smaller home without making it look too cluttered or permanently untidy. We found out more from Priest Brothers in Chelmsford.
Now this may seem like a contradiction but if you choose a couple of larger pieces of furniture they are going to be far more useful than several smaller pieces that will store barely anything. So, to maximise space in your dining room consider a Highboard rather than a sideboard. Traditionally a sideboard is a fairly low piece of furniture, used to store your crockery and cutlery along with perhaps your table mats and table cloths, plus other items you want to store out of view. A nice decorative piece of furniture but it doesn’t make the most of the space. Far better to go for a Highboard which is rather like a taller version of the sideboard. Choose a solid wood version in a light oak that won’t look overpowering and you’ll have a much more versatile item with far more storage but all in the same floor space. Add a mirror to the wall with a natural wood frame and you’ll reflect light around the room creating an illusion of extra space.
In the bedroom go for a wooden triple wardrobe rather than a double one if you can. The extra storage space will make all the difference to your life keeping unused items out of sight rather than on display. And if space is really tight then just add one wooden bedside cabinet rather than one at each side to create an area for a lamp.
